Frequently Asked Questions
-
Which factors do you consider when recommending products?
Factor 1: Adaptive Technologies Product Ratings. We review and rate products in every assistive technology category four times per year. Whenever possible, we recommend the highest rated products.
Factor 2: Client Preference. If the client prefers a specific product over other alternatives, we'll recommend the product that they prefer. The client's opinion and motivation to learn a specific product is more important to us than our product ratings.
Factor 3: Third Party Considerations. Occasionally, third party considerations are an important factor in determining recommendations. If the client is attending college, for example, we'll sometimes recommend the same products used at the college's access center.
-
Does Adaptive Technologies provide vocational training?
We don't provide career-specific vocational training. However, we do integrate relevant job-specific activities into our assistive technology training plans. Consequently, most of our worksite sessions involve both vocational and assistive technology training.
-
What type of technology training is most useful for clients?
Computer maintenance, integrity, and security training receives the highest client ratings. All Windows computers are vulnerable to software conflicts and invasive, resource-draining programs. Computer maintenance, integrity, and security training helps even the most experienced users maintain a fast, error-free PC. There is much more to maintaining a problem-free computer than antivirus and antispyware software.
-
How do your evaluation rates compare to other companies in Colorado?
According to our research, Adaptive Technologies offers the lowest price assistive technology evaluations in Colorado. Most of our competitors charge over $450 per evaluation and do not travel.
-
How long does an evaluation take?
Most evaluations require less than an hour on site. Worksite evaluations often require up to two hours depending on the complexity of the employer's systems and the client's job responsibilities.
Less than 1/5th of the total time to complete an evaluation is spent on site. Case research, development of an appropriate training plan, and writing recommendations constitute the remaining 4/5ths of the evaluation.
